AnimeRants Anime Reviews

Some of the best ones so far are:
Higurashi (When They Cry) Review
-Rascal Doesn’t Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai Review
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Review
Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) Review
(More examples to be added later)

Before checking them out, it’s best if you know how these reviews are generally laid out. Five aspects are analyzed: Visuals, Audio, Story/Themes, Characters, and Personal Enjoyment. Each of the five categories is given a number rating 1-10, with 1 being so horrible it should not exist, and 10 being perfect, as far as I’m concerned.

Next, those five numbers are added up and divided by five to find the average, which is the overall series rating. Again, it runs between 1-10, with one digit of decimals allowed. Here is an example. For Hunter x Hunter (2011), Visuals = 8, Audio = 9, Story/Themes = 10, Characters = 9, and Personal Enjoyment = 10. The average of those numbers = overall series rating = 9.2 out of 10.0. Here is how I generally think of each of of the numbers.

1 = Shouldn’t Exist
2 = Extremely poor
3 = Poor/ Very Bad
4 = Below Average/ Bad
5 = Average/ Mediocre
6 = Satisfactory/ Decent
7 = Good / Enjoyable
8 = Excellent / Amazing
9 = Magnificent / Outstanding
10 = Masterpiece/ Perfect

Hopefully, with this understanding of how my ratings work, my anime reviews will make more sense to you. Thank you very much for looking this over.

Disclaimer: My opinions are constantly changing somewhat over time, so ratings in these series reviews may not always reflect my current thoughts on the series.

Disclaimer 2: All anime/media rating systems are at least somewhat subject to personal biases. My write-ups are no different in this regard. I try to mediate this element using the Personal Enjoyment category in my ratings, but now and then, that alone does not contain my biases. Please be patient with me, as I am only a fan and a hobbyist reviewer– not a “critic.”
